Second Story Live
Located on the 2nd story of the Caroline County
Public Library in Denton, Maryland, this series features nationally known
performers and singer/songwriters. Featured performers begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission
is $10; students $5. Tickets are available at the door starting at 6:45 p.m. Coffee,
tea and dessert refreshments for sale by the Friends of the Library.
Caroline County Performing Arts Series
Formerly know as Carnival, these events are held at various venues throughout
Caroline County, this free performing arts series is something for the whole
family to enjoy. From brass, jazz, blues and classical musicians to comedians,
dancers, circus acts, and more, these critically acclaimed performances are a
well received diversion during late winter and early spring.
Exhibits
The Caroline County Council of Arts sponsors exhibits that represent Carolline County culture and, or artists.
Lend a Helping Hand Project
Help renovate the historic Wilson's Foundry Dwelling, future home of your new Arts Center and Community Art Gallery! Hand-paint a tile that will become a permanent part of the Community Arts Center at 401 Market St., Denton. For $25, these tiles offer a unique opportunity for expression and we encourage you to be creative! Represent your family or group through art, pay tribute to some one special or design your favorite artistic feeling in paint.We have extended our deadline so you still have time to get involved!!
Tiles can be purchased and painted at the following locations:
- Clay Bakers, 1 S. Washington Street, Easton
- Denton Spring Gala, May 17th
Traditional Robert Burns Supper
Celebrating the life and works of the great Scottish hero and poet Robert Burns
with traditional toasts, poetry, Scottish wit, songs and the noble Haggis.
Noontunes
Noontunes is a free lunchtime music series held on the Courthouse Green in Denton
every Friday in May.
Short Story Contest
The contest is open to Caroline County residents with five (5) age categories,
K-3rd Grade; 4th-6th Grade; 7th- 9th Grade; 10th-12th Grade; and Adult. First, second, and third
prizes will be awarded in each category. Contest winners will be honored and
awards will be presented during a Literary Reception held on June 17, 2008 at the Caroline County Public
Library in Denton.
Entry forms are available at your local Caroline Public Library and on this website. Entry deadline is April 19, 2008.
Eastern Shore Regional Poetry Contest
The contest is open to Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot County residents, students, and employees with four (4) age categories: 1st-8th grade, 9th -12th grade, Adults 18-59, and Seniors 60+. First, second, and third
prizes will be awarded in each category. Entry deadline is March 1, 2008
Wednesday Watercolor Group
Free open painting sessions with occasional instruction held each Wednesday from 9am-3pm at the Christ Episcopal Church in Denton. Bring your own lunch and art supplies, coffee and tea on hand.
Community Arts Block Party!
Celebrate the arts with live entertainment, kids activities, BBQ food, beer, wine and lots of fun for the whole family!Come and enjoy live music performances.
Held this year on June 28, 2008, this is a fundraising event supporting the restoration of the historic Wilson's Foundry Dwelling, 401 Market St., Denton- future home of your new Community Arts Center and Community Arts Gallery!
Annual Celtic Gathering
An annual event held in the Fall at the Bryant-Todd House. Enjoy the foods, spirits, and music of Scotland & Ireland in a charming historic setting.
