Maryland Cultural Data Project

The Cultural Data Project was designed to provide an easier application process for potential grantees through the development of a standardized system for reporting organiztional data. Applicants will only need to complete this form once each year and will be able to submit it as part of their grant proposals to the participating funders.

The primary outcome of the Maryland CDP will be the creation of a consistent , reliable and useful source for comprehensive data on arts and culture in Maryland. This powerful tool will enable organizations to benchmark their progress and better equip advocates to make the case for arts and culture. The hope is that it will strengthin the arts and culture sector by improving each organization's ability to track trends over time.

Achieving the important goal of central repository  for standardized data on the arts and culture in Maryland  requires the participation of as many organizations as possible. To ensure that Maryland CDP collects the necessary data, participating  funders will require all grant applicants to complete a Cultural Data Profile through the Maryland CDP website to accompany most grant applications after October 1, 2007.

Organizations are asked to provide two years of data the first time they complete the form, after which they only need to submit one year of information in each subsequent year. This will allow a database to be built and inform future reports to the cultural community . The Maryland CDP website is online at http://www.MDCulturalData.org.

All data reports generated from the Maryland CDP website will in aggregate form, protecting any organization's specific information.

The completion of the Data Project will require an investment of your time , so plan ahead. A number of resources are available to help you complete the process, including training sessions, interactive materials and a help desk. The Maryland CDP website will provide answers to many of your questions about the project. All other questions can be directed to the Maryland CDP Help Desk at 866-9-MD-DATA or help@MDCulturalData.org .
