About the CCCA
The Caroline County Council of Arts, Inc.,
is a private, non-stock, non-profit, charitable corporation.
It is certified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code and contributions are tax deductible.
The decisions of the Council are made by a board of directors made
up of citizens of the County, along with permanent non-voting representatives
from the Board of Education, the County Department of Parks and Recreation,
and the County Library.
The day-to-day business of the Council is handled by a part-time
Executive Director, Marina Dowdall. The work of the Council is done by
board members and volunteers from the membership at large and the community.
The purpose of the Council of Arts is twofold: to encourage and promote
artists of all kinds, professional and amateur, and to bring a rich variety
of artistic experience to the citizens of Caroline County, at free or reduced
admission.
Funding for the Council is provided by generous grants from the Maryland
State Arts Council, the County
Commissioners of Caroline County, contributions from members, and from
reduced-rate ticket sales at certain events. Many individual events are
also sponsored by County businesses.

"The pursuit of every opportunity to promote the arts and to expose more people to the arts justifies the very existence of the Arts Council. Life without art, in its many manifestations, is inconceivable. We need it to help us interpret what is essential to our being." |

"The Arts enrich our lives and allow us to appreciate all the individual expressions that have come before as well as those that are being created today. The Council provides an opportunity for the citizens of Caroline County to partake in this enjoyment. I believe we, as members of the community, should lend a hand in promoting such artistic endeavors." |

"Art is the expression of talent. Some have an appreciation of other's talent, some get to demonstrate their own. It is an enrichment of all of the beauty which exists around us. Take some time to enjoy and support the Arts." |

"Creating art in a rural community is about partnerships, linking like-minded artists in all disciplines and audiences together - sometimes through traditional local government organizations like libraries and recreation departments. Personally, art makes me fell more alive and connects me with myself and the world around me better than anything else." |
