The daughter of two Talbot County teachers, Lisa N. Martin studied art education at Frostburg State College in the mid 70’s. She began teaching art in Caroline County at Colonel Richardson High School where she met her husband, Harry. Her early graduate work was done at Maryland Institute College of Art and she produced work in wood, fabric (batik and quilting), watercolor, and acrylic. However, after teaching art and Industrial Arts for 8 years, Lisa chose to stay home to raise their two daughters, Katie and Jennifer.
Returning to teaching about 13 years ago, Lisa received her Masters of Education from Salisbury University and has now taught elementary, middle, and high school art. Her painting career was “restarted” five years ago by studying with Joyce Zeigler. She has been working in the summers as a member of the Plein Air Painters of the Eastern Shore. She has participated at shows at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Sailwinds, Chesapeake College, Adkins Arboretum, the Tidewater Inn, Coffee East in Easton with Plein Air Painters, and the Woman’s Club of Denton. Her work can also be found at Greensborough Trading in Greensboro, MD.
