Originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Nancy Mysak is a representational watercolorist. Painting in the woods, fields, near the rivers and the ocean, and in her studio in rural Wicomico County, Nancy interprets nature. Her chosen media are watercolor and acrylic.

After studying art at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., Nancy received her Bachelor's Degree in education from Salisbury University. Since that time she has studied with locally and nationally known artists and taught children's art classes in both public and private institutions.

The vibrancy of color and the way light affects color as it hits objects are what Nancy finds most intriguing. Beauty and design as found in nature are important in her compositions. To capture that beautiful instant and save it keeps her exploring new ways to express her feelings through paint. Usually beginning a painting on location, she finishes it in the studio, where she can look at the painting as a design and evaluate it for good usage of color, value, and composition.

"For as long as I can remember I have used whatever materials were available to make drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Some of my early attempts were truly indescribable! Bringing nature's beauty, perfect and imperfect, into clear focus, to ponder and enjoy is my main purpose for painting", states Mysak. Her natural surroundings, friends, family, and ideas gathered from her travels all contribute to the moments of inspiration, which Nancy feels are essential to the creative process.
